Scientific Opinion on the safety of steviol glycosides for the proposed uses as a food additive

ステビア甘味料は、日本をはじめ、中国、台湾、韓国、マレーシア、中南米、オーストラリア、 ニュージーランド、米国を含め、ステビア甘味料はすでに多くの国々で使用が認められています。

2007年、守田化学工業（株）はEU（欧州）委員会にステビア甘味料を食品として許可申請をしました。 これを受け欧州食品安全機関（EFSA）は2010年4月14日、ステビア甘味料は 食品へ使用することへの安全性上の問題がないと結論を出しました。
EU委員会はこのEFSAの評価を受けて、ステビア甘味料の承認に向けての 手続きに入り、来年の初めには、正式にEUにおいて許可されることになります。 EU委員会に申請してから来年の許可まで約4年かかりましたが ステビアがグローバル甘味料としてＥＵを含め世界中で認可される日もそう遠くなくなりました。

ステビア甘味料を世界で初めて商品化した守田化学工業の製品の安全性がＥＦＳＡに認められたことは喜ばしいニュースです。

Until now the EU did not have approved Stevia as a food, is expected to be approved next year.
In 2007, Morita has applied for permission to use stevia as a food in EFSA . EFSA published their scientific opinion on Steviol glycosides, which as expected was positive.

This is very good news for the Stevia industry that we expect to further influence the market in a positive way. The final authorization for EU is now in the hands of the European Commission and is expected by the beginning of 2011.
